I don’t think the drop-waist is it…

I had a fancy to try a drop-waist dress based on inspiration from Pinterest - not a 1920s costume, but an everyday sort of dress with an extended bodice and flaring skirt at the mid-hip. I started with the Chalk & Notch Shay pattern and went through several mock-ups and re-drafts before arriving at this wearable mock-up (I had planned to make a final version in linen). But… it doesn’t really flatter, does it? It’s cute in an abstract way, and the styling and location are very appealing, but I think the drop waist is not for me. I shall save my linen for other projects!
